Functional Requirements
Based on the product definition, the water flosser requires:
Motor-driven pulsation to generate water pressure.
Wireless connectivity (Bluetooth/Wi-Fi) to synchronize with a mobile application.
Rechargeable power supply for portability and ease of use.
System Architecture
From the structural layout, the product must integrate:
A rechargeable lithium battery as the main power source.
A high-speed motor and pump system, capable of converting stored energy into stable pulsed water pressure.
Power management and safety circuitry to ensure reliable charging and discharging cycles.
Wireless MCU to handle both motor control and mobile connectivity.
Power Management & Charging Circuit
During charging:
IC1 acts as a front-line protection IC, monitoring the USB input and validating safe voltage levels before allowing current flow.
Once validated, IC2 serves as the dedicated charging IC, regulating the charging current into the lithium battery.
Throughout the cycle, IC3 monitors the battery state, providing safeguards against overcharging.
During operation:
The IC3 also prevents over-discharge and overcurrent during battery use.
A low-dropout regulator (IC4) ensures stable 3V supply to the control circuitry.
This regulated voltage powers the IC5 SoC, which manages system logic and communication.
Control & Communication
The IC5 microcontroller is the central controller, responsible for interpreting user input from physical buttons or commands sent via the mobile app.
It computes required motor output and signals the motor driver IC to control the water pump motor accordingly.
Simultaneously, the IC5’s Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) module maintains a seamless connection with the smartphone application, enabling real-time control and data synchronization.
Interconnects
The IC6 connector ensures robust and reliable connections between the main PCB, the battery module, and the front-panel interface, minimizing the risk of signal loss or assembly errors.
